Door Knob, a video sculpture with poetry animation…

Untitled from Jenine Durland on Vimeo.

Animation! Poetry! Video Sculpture (pictures coming soon!)
This is the animation that supported the Door Knob video installation I produced for Video Sculpture at ITP.

By turning the door handle, the viewer is able to switch between two versions of this animation: one where the text is frozen and the other where the text is moving randomly.

The poetry selection is taken from a longer piece that I wrote from the viewpoint of a specific antique door knob (pictured below).
The animation was made in AfterEffects.

I hacked a potentiometer into this door knob, wired it into an Arduino, and installed the piece in a wooden door, hiding a projector on the other side.
